Hmmm....just now seeing this post too...even though you posted this a week ago.
I love my green Cuttlebug machine. It's not electronic....has a crank and several thicknesses of cutting mats. They make a lot of embossing folders just for it, but it can use almost any other dies as long as you "sandwich" it properly. Some gals like the Big Shot, which is similar and can take some of the newer really large dies.

I have the baby bug (Cricut) and just love it.
It is plenty for me.
I think I need something else to emboss with - the cuttlebug I think goes with it.

Just seeing this as well Robin. Cricut and Cuttlebug lover here.

If you go cricut go for the cricut expressions. (not he E2 the expression) much more user friendly.

I have a 2 Cricuts (Baby Bug & Expression) and a Cuttlebug - love them all. If you get a Cricut I agree with Vickie, the Expression is the one because you can do a lot more with it than the Baby Bug.

if you want one machine to do both the only one I've ever tried is a big shot, it worked quite well for both the die cutting and the embossing

I own a cricut and a cuttlebug like most of the others .. I've never tried any of the dies in my cuttlebug, just the embossing folder

I have the baby bug, the regular expression, the Imagine and I just got the E2 - if you are just starting out and want something that you can cut different sizes with, I'd say the Expression is your best bet but be aware that you will have to invest in cartridges or the Design studio. I don't think the Cricut Craft room is avail yet, I believe it's still in the beta stages.
