So, I have both of my classes ready for "the big crop".
I'm super nervous and not thrilled with my projects...the reason is because: the papers we have to work with would NOT have been my choice. I'm super frustrated and struggling. Not only that, but there are ABSOLUTELY NO embellishments to work with?! ALLLLL PAPERS and mists and die cuts???!!!
I've put together these two projects (and don't want these girls to base my talent on these, but I have nothing else to work with.)
PLEASE tell me if there is anything else I should add or change:( I just don't know.

My first class is "Memories"...again, not my choice. That's what I was told to do.
I will be instructing on two flower techniques, distressed edging and a title embossing technique.

My second class is "Birthday". I went with basic doodling ideas, a super easy banner technique (THANK YOU STACY), and a puff paint/chipboard technique.

I like them both as they are, the top one is very pretty

are you going to be with beginning scrapbookers? or more advanced? I think if they are just beginning the craft too many techniques could be overwhelming to them so these projects with multiple techniques would definitely be enough for them to do

love the bday one! i wouldn't change a thing and the techniques to go along with it are fab!
i DO like the first one a lot, but a b/w pic may change the look a little, which in turn may let you like it a bit more. again, the techniques for this one, i think are perfect as well.

other than that, i think they are both great!

Robin, I was told to use several techniques to give the beginners and novices, both, a good mix of variety.
Paula, Jenny and I, both, tried using a black and white picture, but this one actually looked better.

I got an email back from the store owner and she was pleased with both of them (barf) so I guess we'll just go with this....since I don't have anything else to use anyway...
Thanks for your input:)

Aww Trisha, don't be so hard on your layouts!! They are both great, and the techniques are fun. But, I do understand the frustration of not being personally happy, especially when you are limited with what you have to work with.

Your work and talent are both amazing, and that will shine through! Love ya!

Girl...I have no idea what you are worried about. The top LO is very trisha hill! GREAT job using NO embellies! My only thought would be to make sure to have an 'alternate' type of flower maybe like a spiral, or star type if you could for people who don't scrap girl pages...though it isn't truly a girl page, and it is absolutely lovely. I think it feels so off to you because it is WAY out of your color wheel...but I truly see YOU all over it.

The second one is less great, but still a layout I'd be thrilled to design. Fun techniques, current, gender neutral...maybe add a little white pen doodling around the bigger pp mat? It's a little more 'angular' than what you do...your flowery, flourishy and circular in your true to you designs, but there's nothing 'wrong' here! maybe offer up the option of a circle flags on the banner? Soften it up a bit?

You will do FABULOUS and they are SO lucky to have you!!! XOXO

Thanks girls.
The girls can sign up for one of 4 classes.
They go into the "flower" class knowing that it is flower techniques so if they don't want to learn flowers because it's too girly, they need to sign up for something else.
I agree the second one isn't spectacular by any means, but I have nothing else to use. In fact, SOME of the papers are double sided and I only had a couple left over that I didn't use. I'm seriously struggling with LACK of products.

I got an email back from her and she said that many of her customers live far away from a scrap store so she stresses the importance of learning to make your own embellishments....I DO make some of my own, but with NOTHING to work with, I'm hurting.

Thank you all for your input!

just seeing this..Trisha, bring me your head...hahahahahaha...You should never second guess your work. My first thought too was the photo, but I see you added a little 'tan' to bring the photo where it needs to be; as I would expect you to do!! Keep up the great work..so proud of you!

I think those are better than a lot of the samples I've seen for classes at CKC etc. The thing I found about the classes is that you go for the technique knowledge not so you can recreate the exact page that they are advertising. They will love it.

I think they are fabulous! You stuck to the parameters and are showing a great example of what they can do with little product and some creativity.

Trisha I was just reading a thread on another board and I thought of you

a couple girls were talking about the LSS's they used to work for and how they were always given the UGLIEST paper in the store to work with for what was going on display. The reason because they knew the cute stuff would sell itself, but the other needed help .. so think how much you're helping this LSS and how wonderful a job you did for them
