...but I feel pretty overprotective of my scrapbook albums!

As most of you know, Van works in a town about 20 miles from here in the newspaper business. One of the girls he works with was talking about scrapbooking, and his editors' (the owners) daughters were joining in on the conversation. He overheard them and started talking to them about how I scrap, etc. He came home yesterday and asked me if he could take one of my scrapbooks up to work to show them.

I don't know, it's weird....I let him, of course, but I kinda feel like my life is being "exposed" to them. Isn't that weird? I post my pages here, on Facebook, and on scrapbook.com all the time, but it's just weird showing your life to your husband's work friends and owners. LOL My journaling and my pages are so dear to my heart, and I guess I'm a little reserved when it comes to showing it all to them. Never really realized that before today!

What about you? Do you show your albums to people outside of your family (not counting online places like HYWWP)?

Jenny I will bet that they do not even "read" all the journaling, I belive the journaling is just for us. Most of the time people (family mostly) ask "when was this taken?", and of course the info is right in front of them. So if you are worried about that I wouldn't be.

If anything you may intemidate them because your layouts are so fabulous and they are going to say "Ohh, I could never do anything like that."

Show them off be proud!

Only other scrappers understand...and maybe close family members. Heck, even my sister in law looks on and says how much time I spent on these, she couldn't possibly spend her time so frivolously...and she is an artist type. I thought she'd get it. I can see why you might be worried a bit. Just send some simple ones and keep the heart felt journaled ones home.

I get it...the boys wanted to look at their baby albums tonight, and I have one layout in Gabe's album that tells how I tried to breastfeed, but it just didn't seem to work. He didn't read it or anything because the journaling was more for me, but I don't know how much I want others to read that.

We put so much of ourselves into our pages, and we don't really think about it because of how much we love it, and then when we are asked to sort of "give it away" to someone else, that is when it is noticed. I know exactly what you mean. :)

I agree with Robin - only other scrappers understand.

Thanks, ladies. Stacy, you said it perfectly. That is exactly how I feel.

Good news is, they looked at the album yesterday and really liked it. I don't think they really took the time to read any journaling, so that's cool. Makes me feel a little bit less exposed. LOL I think Van even talked one of them into joining The Scrap Room. I wonder if we can get commission for that? hmmm...... LOL!

I TOTALLY understand that. I'm like Lisa that I shove my books in front of anyone who will look but letting it go out of my control - wondering if they are taking them out of the sleeves - exposing them to acids etc. I always like to explain my pages when they are being shown. Which one did you send? I could see sending like a Disney or wedding album or something.

I wouldn't have any problem showing my scrapbooks to others BUT I would have a problem with my dh taking them to show them to someone. I would feel like I had to do it.

Kris, I sent the latest one I have of the boys together. I do separate albums for their "together" pics/pages....I sent the most recent one of those.
