Have Your Way With Paper

We are having a joint 1st birthday party for Ariel and her cousin Isaiah on October 9. I want to make birthday invitations! I am not a card maker so looking for ideas.

I am thinking of incorporating a die-cut #1 on the card but not sure how to design.
Our theme for the party is going to be a pond/frog/duck type.

Also need a cute quote about turning one.

And lastly, since a joint bday party and invitees are being invited for one baby or the other, we want to work the invites to indicate it is a joint bday party, but people don't have to feel obligated to buy gifts for both babies. We don't want guests to arrive and find out "oh there are 2 celebrating" and then feel bad for not knowing.

i'm not sure how much help i can be with the invitation making and all, but as for the gift thing.... you COULD always put at the bottom soemthing like "gift optional" (keep it in the singular though)

Ooh that's a tough one but I love the idea of using the aquatic animals!

That is a difficult one as far as the joint party and gift thing goes. I'm not sure I would address that on the invitation. I might just send out an individual invitation for each baby to the people who are invited just for that baby. Then the people who are invited to both send them a joint invitation. Then just address any confusion when the guest arrives.

I'd go for simple on the invites if at all possible...maybe make it a #1 - should be easily found for cricut or sizzix...and cut it from paper with duck/frogs etc...or cut it on cardstock and put duck/frog embellies or stamps on it...

Working, working on this. Want to get invites out in beginning of September. I do want to put both babies names on the invitation.

Kari, I like your idea of the "invited on behalf of....." I think that says just what you need it too. I think you are on your way to getting these done. As far as the invite itself, how many do you have to make?

Not sure how many invitations my sister needs, but I need about 15, give or take a couple.

What about doing a photo invite, like you see people send out at Christmas and have both kids on the picture each holding up one finger (with help if needed) and then at the bottom put "Look who's turning ONE!" and the party info.
