I have been commissioned to make some wedding invites. The only info that she gave me was that the bridesmaids were wearing emerald/jade green.

This is what I have so far:Image

Any suggestions? Is it too plain? She said she does not want a 'fussy' invite with a million pieces. but I am just wondering if maybe this is too simple?

Oh and I should mention that in the pic I place a piece of Kraft paper behind it, it is not part of the card. Also the butterfly is a negative image cut into the white paper.

I personally think that it looks gorgeous! The cutout image is just perfect and the colors are lovely - when you show it to her you can tell her that you can add some ribbon or alter it if its not exactly the way she wants it...well done my friend.

I agree with Kris wholeheartedly!! LOVE the simplicity...classy. If you want to 'dress' it up a bit more, maybe a glossy white would make it stand out a bit more?

I think it is quite lovely like it is. But here's a couple ideas....you could add a small white rhinestone gem somewhere, perhaps at the face of the butterfly. Or you print the text part on vellum and attach in the same place with a simple ribbon pulled thru two holes....ya know how you push the ribbon thru the two small punched holes from the front and then wrap around and push thru the holes again to the front and trim them to an angle....I've seen this on cards before...hard to describe.

I, too, like the design of it very much! I also like Lisa's suggestions of maybe a glossier, shimmery paper if she wants to dress it up a bit more after she sees it. Keep us posted!

I about spit my coffee out. Peacocks? That is definitely unique!
Ok, hmmmm....When I think of peacocks they do have beautiful colors and feathers. Is there anyway you could turn the flourish into a feather and have it be somehow be glimmery/shimmery. I bet Roe would have a great technique for making some colors blend to give you a cool effect. I think a feather would be just subtle enough without having to put a whole peacock on there. Just my 2 cents.

i know I have seen a beautiful peacock stamp out there. You could use versamak stamp and perfect pearls to color it in place of the butterfly. Very pretty.

I'm not sure yet, but I think I will have to invest in some Copics for this.....

Katt, that is going to look pretty with the peacock on the side!..

Not sure how many invites you will need to do, but you are going to have a lot of coloring!..Copics would be nice, but you can also use water color pencils with a blender pen or gamsol. This will give you a softer look which will be better for a wedding invite. Also, it will be quicker than doing copics and the blending will make it easier to get more done.

If you don't have gamsol, you can use baby oil...
